Salty air, freezing temperatures, stormy winds and heavy swells - the rough ambient conditions of the high seas entail a high impact on the bearings in cranes, winches, fairleads and rudder systems. Klüber Lubrication has developed the new, ultimately biodegradable high-performance lubricant Klüberbio BM 32-142 especially for the eco-friendly lubrication of rolling and plain bearings subject to extreme maritime conditions. In addition to the EU Ecolabel, Klüberbio BM 32-142 complies with the requirements for classification as an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL) in terms of biodegradability, toxicity and bioaccumulation, as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency for the "2013 Vessel General Permit".
"An excellent environmental compatibility of the lubricants is just as important to operators as an excellent wear protection, good corrosion protection and a high load-carrying capacity", explains Dirk Fabry, Business Development Manager for marine lubricants at Klüber Lubrication. "With Klüberbio BM 32-142 we succeeded in developing a real universal lubricant for all on-board bearing applications which are sensitive to the environment."
Especially designed for the lubrication of rolling and plain bearings subject to high surface pressure, the good low-temperature behaviour of the new multi-purpose grease enables operation with very low ambient temperatures down to minus 40 °C. Good wear and corrosion protection are provided by special additives. Thus Klüberbio BM 32-142 contributes to extending maintenance intervals and the components' service life.
